Minnesota’s Government Data Practices Act regulates the collection, creation, storage, maintenance, dissemination, and access to government data in government entities. The Act establishes the assumption that government data is public and thus, available to the public for both inspection and copying. However, there are several exceptions to the Act that can arise, such as trade secrets, proprietary data and security information among many others. Explore the issues and challenges that arise under the Data Practices Act and learn new strategies for navigating the Act to better assist your clients.
