Elimination of Bias: Shining a Spotlight on Depression in the Legal Profession
Depression is certainly no stranger to the legal profession. There is evidence that suggests higher rates within the profession than for those in general population. What is the reason for this? More importantly, what can we do about it? Dr. Heidi Bausch-Ryan from CARE Counseling joins us to look at what depression is, why those in the legal profession seem particularly prone to it, and what can be done to navigate it effectively. Lawyers and their colleagues in the legal profession can take meaningful action in helping to address depression by shedding their biases about mental health and learning to spot warning signs in themselves, their colleagues, and their clients so that everyone can get the help that they need.
