Lake Improvement Districts play a critical role in maintaining water quality and managing shoreline and recreational use, while operating as special taxing districts with their own governing structures. This session will explore the statutory framework, regulatory authority, and practical challenges these districts face including water use conflicts, shoreline protection, and controversial projects. Attendees will gain insight into how these districts balance environmental stewardship with community and stakeholder interests.

Additionally, learn how Torrens status can impact lakeshore property.
