This program will help family law attorneys recognize the signs of secondary traumatic stress and understand how sustained exposure to clients’ trauma can affect decision-making, client relationships, and professional performance. The presentation will also offer practical, evidence-based strategies – at both the individual and organizational levels – to mitigate these effects. By equipping attorneys and firms with tools to manage and reduce secondary trauma, this course focuses on how family law practitioners can “shield the carer” from the occupational hazards inherent in representing vulnerable children and families.
