This session includes a fireside chat with Dr. Clarence Shannon in conversation with Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals Judge Kathy Hipp Carlson. Dr. Shannon will provide insight into the potential for racial bias in medical diagnoses and treatment for pain management. Then civil litigator and diversity, equity and inclusion trainer Amran Farah will discuss implicit bias and consider the potential impact of instances of this kind of bias on claimants in matters handled by workers’ compensation lawyers and on the administration of justice.
