Elimination of Bias: Transgender Awareness for Lawyers in Healthcare Settings
There continues to be a need for education and awareness among health lawyers regarding the experiences of transgender patients and insureds in the healthcare system. This session will enhance – and sometimes may challenge – understandings of harm caused to patients based on biased beliefs and stereotypes about gender identity. In so doing, the session will help attendees give the most informed, unbiased counsel to clients who treat and provide health insurance to transgender individuals, or who represent transgender individuals in legal matters related to their healthcare.
