Recognizing and navigating cultural differences is essential in the legal profession, where communication and interpersonal interaction are at the heart of our work with clients and colleagues. This presentation will help lawyers learn how to understand their own cultural identity, the existence of intercultural differences, and implicit bias – and how to reflect on ways that their personal experiences show up in client and colleague exchanges and may shape our legal counsel. Lawyers will learn how to recognize and repair cultural ruptures when inevitable misunderstandings and/or microaggressions occur.
