Prominent South Carolina attorney Richard Murdaugh was convicted of murder. During the trial there were allegations of juror misconduct. In this presentation, we will examine juror tampering and juror misconduct and the proper procedure, burden of proof, and remedy when misconduct is discovered. We will review juror misconduct in this case, view film clips of the hearing to remove the juror and opine as to whether the judge’s removal of the juror was proper. Whether you practice civil or criminal law, attendees will benefit from this presentation by learning about juror misconduct, jury tampering, and a litigant’s right to a fair trial with an impartial jury.
