Smart phones make lawyers more connected and mobile – ready and able to respond to client needs effectively and efficiently. The technology is a boost, but it also has its downsides. Several recent studies have examined the impact of technology and social media use through smart phones on mental health, revealing an alarming picture (especially in the context of the legal profession, where lawyers are already burdened with extraordinary anxiety and mental health challenges). This session will examine the impact of smart phones in the legal profession and outline key tips and behaviors that lawyers can undertake to use their phones in ways that are aligned with personal and professional well-being.
