This presentation will look at less-restrictive alternatives and the new supported decision-making statutes, guiding practitioners through what supported decision-making looks like and when there are opportunities for supported decision-making in lieu of or in addition to guardianship. It will also look at what exactly less-restrictive alternatives include and how to outline in pleadings and orders exactly what less-restrictive alternatives have been attempted prior to guardianship.
