Modernizing Real Property Easements for the 21st Century: The Uniform Easement Relocation Act
In July 2020, the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (ULC) approved for adoption in all fifty states the Uniform Easement Relocation Act (UERA). The ULC undertook this initiative to promote a solution to the common law prohibition against relocation of easements and, naturally, to resolve the myriad of regional approaches to the issue. This session will provide a high-level overview of the UERA and what to expect if the UERA is adopted in Minnesota and/or surrounding states.
