How to Simplify Numbering to Make Drafting Documents Easier  (45 MINUTES)

• Headers, Footers and Page Numbering: Tips for headers, footers and page numbering including how to turn page numbering on and off anywhere in a document, start over at 1 (even though you’re not on page 1 overall), change formats (e.g., from Romanettes to Arabic), and how to not number the first page, but number the second and subsequent pages.
• Automatic Paragraph Numbering: Learn how to set up and control automatic paragraph numbering (single or multiple levels).

Help! I’m Bogged Down by My E-Mail – How to Use Outlook More Efficiently  (90 MINUTES)

• Fix Outlook’s Programmatical Default Settings: Learn how to adjust Outlook’s programmatical default settings to work better for legal users (including the default font and point size used for new email).

Excel for Lawyers: The Basics and Beyond – It’s Not Just for Accountants  (60 MINUTES)

• How Law Offices Can Use Spreadsheets: We’ll demonstrate ways in which law offices use Excel and all of the exercises we’ll do in class are legal-specific examples. As you’ll see, Excel isn’t only good for accountants and engineers.
• Fix Excel’s Default Settings: We’ll cover Excel default settings you will want to modify (and explain why).
• How to Start: Learn how to set up a spreadsheet from scratch and decide what should appear in the rows and columns.
• Find Appropriate Formulas: Excel users often know what they want to calculate, but don’t know which formulas might help. We’ll show you how to find formulas/functions when you’re unsure what to use.
• Formulas: Once you’ve found an appropriate formula, we’ll show you how to use them (covering the insert function wizard, and how “arguments” work).
• Get It to Print Correctly: Users often complain about the difficulty of getting spreadsheets to print properly. We’ll show you how to control how a spreadsheet prints and get it to fit on a page if it is otherwise too big (wide or tall).

How to Use Excel to Organize Your Legal Practice  (30 MINUTES)

• Mail Merge in Word: Learn how to use Excel as a data source for mail merging in Word (generate documents, labels, envelopes and/or emails in mass).
• Managing Lists: We will show you how to use Excel as a list manager.
