Throughout our careers, we face various losses – health issues, job changes, divorce, and death of loved ones, just to name a few. In this presentation, we will approach grief and the grieving process through the lens of attorney ethics, focusing on how grief affects key professional duties like diligence, client communication, and responsiveness. We will discuss relevant ethical rules and practical strategies for managing grief while maintaining professional responsibilities.
The demanding nature of the practice of law can intensify grief, creating unique challenges for attorneys. We'll discuss how the profession's relentless pace compounds loss and provide tools for processing grief while upholding ethical standards.
Finally, we’ll discuss various ways we can hold space for that which we are grieving to give meaning to our changed circumstances.
