Traditional financing opportunities have been non-existent or limited for many cannabis companies due to the federal classification of marijuana as a Schedule I drug. However, there are statutory grants and other new avenues for funding in Minnesota, as well as a shift in attitude by traditional lending institutions and even a potential downgrade in classification by the DEA that could further open opportunities in this sector.
