Nearly every employer offers some form of paid leave (e.g., sick time, vacation, or PTO) to its workers. But how do these policies interact with an employer’s obligation to provide unpaid leave under federal and state law? This presentation will help you evaluate whether you need to adopt paid or unpaid leave policies and which of your current policies need to be updated. This presentation will also include a critical examination of eligibility, accrual, usage, and payout under your paid leave policies and how they interact with your legal obligations to provide unpaid leave.
