This ethics program will cover three timely topics to provide a 360 degree look starting with a session dedicated to ethics, mental health, and well-being in a post-COVID environment that will discuss ethical implications of the current state of affairs while also offering perspectives and tools for coping. Subsequently, there will be a session discussing how to avoid ethics complaints that will discuss how you can minimize your chances of receiving ethical complaints and share tips and strategies that will help you avoid unnecessary headaches and manage your risk. Lastly, the program will end with a session discussing the important 2021 ethics cases and trends. 

Ethics, Mental Health and Well-Being in a Post-COVID Environment  (60 MINUTES)
Life and work during the COVID pandemic have been challenging for many people, including legal professionals. These challenges are multifaceted and, at times, seemingly unrelenting. While a post-COVID world may seem distant right now, current circumstances give rise to unique stressors. We’ll discuss the ethical implications of the current state of affairs while also offering perspectives and tools for coping.

How to Avoid Ethics Complaints – Keeping the Fundamentals in Mind  (60 MINUTES)
Complaints from clients can sometimes feel inevitable, and when a complaint is filed, it can cause a lot of stress for you as the lawyer.  However, if you make sure to remember the fundamentals of customer service, that can help to reduce the chances of complaints. In this session, learn how you can minimize your chances of receiving ethical complaints based upon a review of the types of conduct that most frequently leads to complaints from clients. Learn tips and strategies that will help you avoid unnecessary headaches and manage your risk of receiving an ethics complaint.

A Year in Review: Update on Attorney Discipline Matters  (60 MINUTES)
This session will discuss important 2021 ethics cases and trends. Update will include significant public cases, proposed rule changes, and remote working and COVID-19 related issues. Learn what has changed so you can stay informed for the coming year.
