International Fundamentals: Employment Law in the Global Context – Issue Spotting for Multi-National Employers

Originally presented:  October 2, 2018     |     Course length:  1.0 hour

Multi-national employers face a particularly complex maze of law and regulation when managing employees in different countries. Learn how to analyze and understand the global workplace compliance challenges, and how to advise multinational employers about the most important legal questions to prevent liability or negative press coverage. Topics include:

  • differences in forming and managing the employment relationship;
  • difference in the employer’s ability to amend or end the relationship;
  • global bullying and harassment policies in the #MeToo era and other global movements;
  • outsourcing and the gig economy: a global onslaught on the use of independent contractors;
  • risks unique to the international arena such as: Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, cross-border data transfers, enhanced privacy rights, expatriates programs and more.
