Originally presented:  September 11, 2017     |     Course length:  3.0 hours

IT Speak: Glossary and Translation for Lawyers  (60 MINUTES)
IT professionals and lawyers speak different languages, often to the detriment of internal working relationships. This session will seek to bridge that gap by providing background on IT, networking, and security concepts that are important to in-house transactional lawyers, compliance officers, and litigators. The session materials will include diagrams and a glossary of terms for future reference.
– Paul H. Luehr & Damien Riehl

Technology Agreements 101: Big Picture Issues  (60 MINUTES)
There are a number of unique aspects to technology transactions that can trip up even the most experienced transactional attorneys who don’t specialize in this space. The session will evaluate some of the unique characteristics of technology transactions and examine important distinctions to keep in mind – all with an eye toward effecting the deal that your client wants and reducing the potential for future conflicts.
– Michael R. Cohen & Melitta Drechsler

Privacy and Data Security  (60 MINUTES)
Top 5 laws and regulations in-house counsel must be aware of related to data privacy and data security – including an update on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Privacy Shield (and its challenges); A heads-up on the latest phishing and ransomware threats against businesses; 5 questions you should be asking your IT folks; Do your vendors have too much access to your organization’s data? And the security provisions every company should have in place with its vendors.
– Joshua W. Carlson & Eric Lambert
