Knowing how to properly and ethically manage lawyer trust accounts is critical to every lawyer’s practice, yet trust account management is frequently misunderstood. In this presentation, attorneys from the Minnesota Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility will review everything you need to know to properly maintain the required trust account books and records and fulfill your fiduciary duty to clients.

The Ethics and Economics of Third Party Litigation Financing  (1 HOUR)
Third party financing is changing the way litigation is funded. It is now being used in a variety of situations, ranging from individual personal injury cases to multimillion dollar commercial cases. Presenters will examine the practical, legal, and ethical issues surrounding litigation finance, provide an overview of how litigation finance works, and review the various ways litigation finance deals can be structured. Presenters will explore the ethical issues surrounding litigation finance, including: attorney independence (Model Rule 5.4), privilege waiver (Model Rule 1.6), and conflicts of interest (Model Rule 1.7).
