It is difficult to admit that race still has a hand in decisions made in the courtroom. The fact of the matter is, however, that each person, from jurors to the judge, has developed their own unconscious biases that can come into play in a forum where justice is supposed to be blind. Johanna Carrane from JuryScope will discuss the current questions and research on the highly debated topic of what effect race has in the courtroom and what the members of a trial team can do to ensure biases do not interfere in the just representation of the client.
