Basic to Advanced Trademark Law: Strategies for Protecting a Company’s Most Important Asset

Trademarks are one of the most important assets owned by a company. A trademark makes a company’s brand immediately recognizable. When properly secured, trademarks boost brand recognition, generate continual income streams and help differentiate a company from its competitors. In many cases, a trademark can be worth more than the physical assets of the company itself. Minnesota CLE’s two half-day trademark law courses are essential for corporate and law firm attorneys who specialize, or often find themselves involved, in trademark law. The morning course is designed as a primer on trademark law, and will explore what constitutes a trademark and service mark. Attendees will learn how to register, enforce and transfer trademark rights. The afternoon course will build on the topics presented in the morning by providing a more advanced, in-depth focus on the most recent developments and trends in trademark law. Specifically, the advanced course will cover overcoming USPTO refusals, trademark due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and recent trademark decisions and litigation. Join our faculty of local and national experts as they provide insights on the important issues facing brand owners and their trademark counsel.

Bonus Summary Guide: All attendees will receive an electronic copy of Minnesota CLE’s Summary GuideTM to Trademark Law to download and/or print. This helpful and concise at-a-glance reference tool includes formatted charts, diagrams and checklists to have at the ready to clarify legal issues quickly and visually.
