Employment Law Institute: Public Sector Employment of Formerly Incarcerated Individuals – Effective and Compliant Recruitment, Hiring and Onboarding

How to develop an effective and compliant process and strategy for recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of formerly incarcerated persons returning to the community from prison. This presentation will:

  • Highlight the need for partnerships with the local prisons, county staff – probation officers and social workers, and relevant nonprofit organizations;
  • Discuss job descriptions, minimum qualifications, pre-employment testing, and other relevant HR practices that could provide barriers to employment for returning citizens; and
  • Describe readying your current workforce for welcoming returning citizens into the organization.
