WHAT’S GOING ON?
Every day, lawyers communicate with colleagues, clients, judges, and others about a wide variety of legal issues. And when we communicate, we often use PowerPoint slides, which we affectionately refer to as our “slide deck.”
SO WHAT’S THE PROBLEM?
Many, if not most, of the slides decks used by lawyers are awful. Unappealing. Unhelpful. Distracting. Boring.
HOW WILL THIS PROGRAM HELP?
In this morning seminar, you will learn the essentials for making a great visual presentation. You’ll see how to create and edit basic slides, how to organize your slides to communicate your main themes and ideas, and how to employ principles of design to take your presentation to the next level.
YOUR PRESENTERS:
David J.F. Gross is a partner with Faegre Drinker and a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is a three-time winner of the Minnesota Lawyer Attorney of the Year recognition, and a national expert on the emerging field of Legal Design. David serves on the Board of Stanford Law School’s Center on the Legal Profession and works closely with Stanford’s Legal Design Lab on design training and programs. He regularly participates in “Legal Design Sprints” and has used Legal Design in complex trials for several years.
Kate Razavi is an experienced trial lawyer and partner in the Minneapolis office of Faegre Drinker, is a co-founder of Faegre Drinker’s Design Lab and a national thought leader in the field of Visual Advocacy. Kate works closely with Stanford’s Legal Design Lab on various seminars, programs, and initiatives and has taught a course in Visual Advocacy at the University of Minnesota Law School.
Attendees are encouraged to download Faegre Drinker’s new e-book Design Thinking and Visual Advocacy for Lawyers. This innovative resource introduces legal professionals to concepts of design thinking and visual advocacy. It delves into the background of legal design, offering tips on applying design thinking to everyday work, and explaining how concepts of visual advocacy can be used in the practice of law.
