Schedule and Faculty 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Animal Law: A Practice Area in Fast Forward As the founder of the Animal Law Section for the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Animal Law Committee for the American Bar Association, the speaker will provide an overview of what animal law is, where animal law has been, and where it is heading. This will include discussion of how issues can arise in various areas of the law including family law, torts and criminal law. Hot topics will include the rising number of pet custody cases, why they are important, and how decisions are made; animals in crisis and the emerging field of emergency management; and some of the public policy questions that arise at the intersection of science and animal law. – Barbara J.
