Schedule and Faculty 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Elder Law: The ABCs of Elder Law That Everyone Should Know Whether it comes from a client, a colleague, a sibling, or someone at a cocktail party, every attorney will be asked, sooner or later, about an elderly parent or sibling who is about to need nursing home care. Even if you never practice elder law, there are certain basics every attorney should know. This program is designed to give you the basics you will need. What is covered by Medicare? What is covered by Medicaid? What is a Medicaid spend down? What assets can a spouse retain? What’s with the “five year rule”? What do you mean by a Medicaid lien? Time permitting, we will also discuss the role of long term care insurance and the issues posed by an aging population.
