He consults, speaks and hosts retreats and conferences to help lawyers serve clients better, be happier, and make more money. He will open this year’s Conference with a kick-off address on building a service-centered firm, followed by an interactive workshop on concrete ways to accomplish that goal. His second plenary session will provide lessons for lawyers from the world’s best business-builders, and he will also lead a breakout session on techniques for creative solos to hone their talents and build better practices. - Ten Rules for New Solos
As our economy sours and the legal job market dries up, there are lots of lawyers looking at solo practice for the first time. As a former solo myself, I’m sharing these ten “rules” for new solos.

- Ten Rules for
Conference Attendees
Here are my Ten Rules for Conference Attendees:
1. The amount of preparation you do before the conference is directly proportional to the benefits you'll receive after it. Read More »

Join the Bike Ride in Duluth
The Life & the Law Committee of the Minnesota State Bar Association is sponsoring a bicycle ride at this year’s Strategic Solutions for Solo & Small Firms Conference. The event promotes life balance and raises money for Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, a non-profit organization that provides free, confidential assistance to lawyers, judges, law students and their families regarding chemical dependency, mental health concerns, and family, financial, or job-related stress.
The ride this year will be held in Duluth on August 1. The Giro d’Luth is a 5, 12 or 40-mile fully supported bicycle tour of the scenic North Shore beginning and ending at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. It is open to walkers, runners, in-line skaters, and riders whether or not they are registered for the conference. Registration fees are $25 per adult rider. Group and family discounts are available, and children 16 and under ride free with an adult.
This is the Life & Law Committee’s ninth bike ride, which was previously held in conjunction with the State Bar Convention. The scenic route provides a wonderful experience for riders of all ages and experience levels. The route follows the Duluth Lake Walk, then takes riders through the streets of the east end of Duluth to the Brighton Beach rest stop. More ambitious riders can then travel to the turnaround rest stop at Knife River.
Please join us – it’s a great way for you and your family members to kick off the Conference. You’ll enjoy good food, receive a free t-shirt, and win prizes by collecting cards at designated points on the route. Spend some quality time with family, old friends and most likely some new friends!
Sponsorship opportunities from $50 to $1000 are still available. Riders, sponsors and volunteers, please contact Dawn Sieber, Life & the Law Bike Ride Chair at 763-323-5568 or dawn.sieber@co.anoka.mn.us with questions.
See you in Duluth! |
