How to Conduct an Effective Jury Trial (5 days)
Learn to develop the skills and insights that will enable you to try
your next jury trial confidently and purposefully.
You’ll spend your time completely immersed in the task of honing
your skills. You’ll cover trial notebooks, direct and cross exam, impeachment, rehabilitation,
direct and cross of expert witnesses, opening statements and summations. You and your fellow
registrants will then practice your skills by litigating a jury trial.
You’ll learn:
- How to develop a theory of the case and how to organize and
present the evidence necessary to gain acceptance of that theory
- How to organize and create a trial notebook that will enable you
to maintain control from voir dire to verdict
- How to deliver an opening statement that sets the stage
- How to organize direct and cross exams that keep a judge and jury
awake and intrigued
- How to phrase questions to maximize testimonial impact and
maintain control of the witness
- How to present real and demonstrative evidence that jurors will
understand and remember
- How to deliver a persuasive summation
- How to master difficult evidentiary matters including hearsay,
foundation, and business record issues
- And how to project a confident, persuasive persona through voice
control, eye contact, presentation tone and physical presence
Every step of the way you’ll learn the unwritten rules of
protocol regarding bench conferences, courtroom demeanor, making and opposing objections, and
countless other trial situations you’re bound to encounter.
